Doula work

What if the experience of pregnancy and childbirth were not an ordeal to be dreaded, but a blessing to look forward to?

I believe that we were made to enjoy this time and would love to help you do that. Doulas are here to inform you of your options, help you figure out and communicate how you envision your birth, and provide you with emotional support and natural techniques for reducing discomfort and stress.

I am trained through DONA International, North America’s largest doula organization, to practice as a birth doula (someone who helps people through pregnancy and childbirth) and a postpartum doula (someone who provides assistance to new parents after childbirth). My work experience has been primarily as a birth doula.

I am open to attending births for clients in the Los Angeles area as well as offering remote pregnancy and childbirth counseling sessions for people anywhere in the world. As a multi-certified sex educator, sex/relationship coach, and certified sexual assault counselor, I especially like to help people use pleasure to improve their childbirth experiences and navigate sexuality during pregnancy and parenthood. My special knowledge areas include planning orgasmic births, supporting sexual trauma survivors through childbirth, and supporting trans and non-binary parents. Testimonials

“I mean, WOW! All we can say is thank you, thank you Suzannah for everything! Your professional, calm, and loving spirit was an absolute pleasure to birth with.

My first birth was very long, painful, and traumatic. My second birth resulted in an unplanned C-section. For my third birth, I was determined to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarian) and a doula to support me. I had a lot of fears and doubts as to being successful and confident about having a VBAC. Suzannah provided education and comfort that really helped encourage me to have this successful VBAC.

Although I was a tad late in my pregnancy when connecting/hiring Suzannah, she was a life saver. I loved that she made herself available and took her time when getting to know me. Suzannah is very knowledgeable, and if she didn’t completely know the answer, she would do her research and come back to me with a response.

My doula kept me moving and worked hard to help me accomplish my goals. I successfully had my VBAC. I know I only got as far as I did because I had my birth doula present. In addition, she was the most amazing advocate for me during the my labor when I couldn’t speak because I was in pain.

I highly recommend Suzannah for her vast knowledge in pregnancy comforts, labor prep, labor, and VBAC birth, in addition to her drive to continually educate herself and other women. She always made sure I was comfortable in every situation. Suzannah has this calm and warm energy that radiates from her. During what felt like the midst of chaos to me, I would always look for her, and she knew what to do. Suzannah never seemed worried or anything but relaxed, and that is what truly helped me throughout this whole process. I labored for 3 days and on the 4th had my little one. Her professionalism and calm and loving spirit is one that is worth working with. I wouldn’t change this experience for anything. Again, thank you so very much Suzannah.”—Celia
